I’ve been slacking so much on the productive mom train lately. Bedtime stories have been few and far between. Since it’s summer we have just been playing outside until past bedtime and then it’s like ok hurry to bed.The other day I got out a book and asked my 4 (5 in Nov) year old to read it with me. I’m aware he can spell some words but I feel spelling and reading are different in a 4 year olds brain. He read two pages of some random book (not ours and not memorized) pretty well.Last night we read good night moon together. Did he know every word? No but after I helped him with said word he remembered it for next time. He was not reciting the book by memory even though at points he did use the pictures as clues.Today I broke out red fish blue fish. Has he seen it before? Yes. But I loathe dr. Suess (strike me down now kids book gods) so I’ve never read it. He was so so so so good! And so proud of himself. He knew 98% of the words without help. How did this happen and I’m just seeing it now? I feel proud but also a shitty mom at the same time.I can’t wait for the day Harry Potter gets on the roster! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3jrI92M
