Hurtful words from the 5 year old

Alright parents, my 5 year old boy is spirited, opinionated and full of passion and stubbornness. He is so wonderful, and so challenging.He's recently begun to name call and tell me he hates me. Usually it's when he has a consequence and dislikes the situation, thus me, maker of rules, so I've been explaining that to him he dislikes the consequence, not me.I've also included him in making certain small rules (in regards to his toys, his bedroom, etc) so that we can work together and he can feel empowered and responsible for his stuff, but some rules, I can't budge on.So with the name calling, I try to ignore it, tell him how it makes me feel. I do get him to apologize, find ways to make amends. I never name call back or punish him. I'm really trying hard to do some positive parenting skills because he responds well to that.Today was particularly challenging and he told me he hopes I die before my husband (the more lenient of the two of us).
