Do parents really have no life?

So basically me (26M) and my girlfriend (25F) of 4.5 yrs just found out we will be having a baby. At first I was really excited (also nervous, but mainly excited) because I've always wanted to be a dad and I really love this girl. But once we told both of our parents they started being extremely negative. Saying how we would regret it being so young and unmarried. That it's stupid and we should adopt it. That we'd never get time to ourselves or get to do anything we wanted etc...Now I'm not that naïve I know it will be very busy and crazy especially the first few years, and I know its a lifetime commitment - but is it really that bad? We both still want to be able to spend time with friends & do the things we like (obviously that wont be as much and wont just be at the drop of a hat but you get what I mean)We're now really unsure about this whole thing & to be honest the negativity has gotten us really down. Both of us, but my girlfriend especially is currently rethinking her/our options and not sure which way to proceed. We do want a baby but we are still young and at the moment we're very stuck.Just for info my GF is a doctor with kind of crazy hours, and I'm a software engineer who works from home so we're fine financially, but I'll probably be doing most of the "Parenting" side of things since I'm very often just at home (which I'm fine with).I know this might be a dumb/selfish thing to worry about in the big scheme of things but any reassurance/advice would be nice. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3a2uZFj
