With school starting just around the corner or in many states, may have already started, how do you feel about kids going back to school right now?To be honest, I am terrified. Our school district gave us only 2 options they go in-person or they go fully online for the entire school year (you cannot change your decision at this point). Both my husband and I were on the online bandwagon at first but then he got a new job and started sooner than we expected and may end up being rather demanding. I too work full time and although we are both working remote for the unforeseeable future, I spend most of my day on Teams meetings and in between working as hard as I can to get all of my work done by our weekly deadline. We both realized that we do not have the bandwidth during the day to really help him be successful if he is fully online, and committing to the entire school year with this option would be draining on all of us including my son who is an only child. We did also take into account my son's feelings as he wants nothing more than to go back to school and he understands it will not be the same as it has been but once we told him our decision, he was the happiest he has been in weeks to be going back.My husband and I both understand there is still the possibility his school may have to transition to remote learning if the state starts seeing an uptick in cases or if there are cases within his school. My job is willing to allow me to block off time throughout the week to assist him but I will still be expected to get my work done timely which means there are days I may work after hours to maintain and would also have to look to adjust times I have blocked off to accommodate meetings with our vendors and leadership. To be honest, I am just curious how other parents feel as both my husband and I have great concerns but also committing to online for the entire year would be taxing and more stressful and time consuming all around for all of us including my son. My son also had a lot of struggles with remote learning as it just wasn't very engaging and most of time the apps they used would often crash or be down. We considered hiring someone to come in the home and help out a few times a week but it seems resources are limited with that option. My son also has been isolated from many of his friends during all this so I understand his strong desire to want to go back to school. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2XQ0SMm
