Finished the week with a pizza party at home

We've had a rough couple weeks in our house. The 4 year old started Pre-K and had to give up his nap, I'm 31 weeks pregnant and miserable, and my husband is just caught in the cross fire. While the 4 year old didn't nap daily, 2-3 naps a week kept the moodiness down. Giving up his nap has caused a few more tantrums from him. I've been coming home from work in so much pain, I'm not handling the tantrums well. We had a tantrum that I didn't have the patience to deal with last night and I walked away from bedtime. Bedtime is something I have always tried hard to make special and sweet. My husband was able to calm the tantrum, the 4 year old apologized, and we tried to figure out what we could change for the next day. We didn't specifically figure anything out, but thought a good night's sleep would do us all some good. This morning? The 4 year old bounced out of bed insistent that it's pajama day and pizza party day. He picked out the pajamas he wanted to wear and insisted there was a pizza party at Pre-K. There was no pizza party at school, but I think by the time he got there he had forgotten about it. I decided that tonight was a good night to start over. Let's be silly and have fun. I went out and bought superhero balloons, table cloth, plates and cups and ordered us Little Caesars. My husband kept the 4 year old out of the house until I got things set up. The happiness and excitement from the 4 year old was exactly what I needed to turn my recent grouchiness around. I am so glad he woke up with such joy and excitement about pajamas and pizza. I am glad I decided to run with his joy. This night was a huge reminder to myself to just roll with the punches a bit more, let go of control, and just throw a pizza party once in a while. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3jrqb06
