My daughter is amazing!

I'm kind of an idiot, but my 4 year old daughter showed me tonight that I'm in good hands when I act a fool.I was making dinner and a couple of frozen chicken breast fillets were stuck together. And I, being the idiot I am, tried to pry them apart with a knife. The dog barked at exactly the wrong moment and I jumped and nearly took my left thumb off.I didn't want to alarm my kid, so I channeled my cry of pain into a "Quiet!" command for the dog. I got the cut cleaned up and found some gauze to wrap around it, but I didn't have any medical tape. While I was hunting for scotch tape, kiddo noticed and wanted to know what happened. I told her I bumped myself with the knife when the dog barked and it was no big deal. She was so concerned. "Oh, poor mommy! You okay?" I repeated I was fine, but she insisted on calling her grandma. I unlocked my cell phone for her and she did all the rest. She put the speaker phone on and I could hear both sides of the conversation as my daughter calmly explained how the knife bumped mommy and she's bleeding through the band-aid.I tried to keep downplaying it, but my mom is still a mom so she rushed over with extra gauze and tape. By the time she arrived, I felt like I might pass out. Mom sat me down, patched me up, and finished cooking dinner. All is well now, but I shudder to think what might have happened if a four year old little girl hadn't insisted on getting help while I was still conscious and able to unlock the phone for her. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/36rB4dS
