Sick kiddos are the worst but why is it so hard to know what the right choice is

Every time my almost 10 month old teeths I worry he’s actually getting sick but then magically all of his symptoms are gone and a few days later there’s a tooth. He started showing symptoms late last week. Last evening I saw the first tooth had broken through the skin already and another looks not far from it. But the coughing hasn’t stopped. And has gotten worse. At 2:30 I woke up to a 2 min long bout before he settled back in and called the overnight nurse line. They want him seen within 24 hours so sent a message to our Peds office. The issue is, he’s supposed to have an EEG and pediatric neurologist consult in a nearby city tomorrow afternoon. He needs to be sleep deprived for the appt and the only way to make that happen is to go ridiculously early and find something to do until his appt time. He’s already had 1 EEG at our local hospital, which came back normal. His ped said that was promising but he’d feel most comfortable if we had a consult with a ped neurologist. We’ve been waiting over a month for this appt, but I decided to reschedule it so he could be seen for the cough.I feel like being seen for the cough is the more emergent need but really don’t know if I made the right choice. My husband thinks he’s fine and hasn’t wanted to do the neurology consult since the beginning, so I know he’ll be fine with this choice. My mom guilt is kicking in though via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2VRF9FE
