Thoughts on bringing toddlers to fine dining establishments

Hi all, I’m in need of some advice. My FIL is retiring next month and celebrating by getting a private room for the family at a really expensive fancy steakhouse (Alexander’s SF) for dinner at 6pm. He’s begging for us to bring our 14mo son. My issue is not only is he a wild toddler, it’s at a 5 star restaurant in the city which we live an hour away from. Not to mention bedtime is usually at 730-8pm ish.We’ve never taken him out to a restaurant yet, also he gets really whiny if stuck at a place too long, and you can forget it if he’s overtired. I feel bad having to decline but I already know this will probably be a disaster if we go.My FIL is super persistent and is brushing off my concerns.
