Information on fluid consumption before/during meals

My partner and I had a discussion regarding this. Her opinion is that fluids should be available 24/7 and never restricted. Her reasoning for this is that she read an article that referenced (or was written by) a paediatrician. My opinion (while not backed by anything I have read) is based on the logic of my child not having great self control and perhaps drinking too much water before a meal, thus being too full from liquid and not eating as much dinner. We were having a little problem where he would not eat much dinner, then ask for milk after our bedtime routine.I tried looking for information to support one of the arguments however I have come up short on both accounts. If anyone can direct me to where I can find information on this that would be appreciated.I want what's best for my child, my only concern is that my child eats enough during meal times, I am in no way trying to restrict fluids and agree that they should be available pretty much 24/7. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3iJyhDk
