Newborn baby cries when put him on his own bed

He is 10 days old now, and his bed or its mattress doesn't seem to be annoying! But when we put him on the couch or on the bed beside us, he seems to be happy and sleep well. But when we put him back on his bed, he start to make some noises that seems to be unhappy or sometimes criesI'm not sure if it's because he likes to be surrounded by us!
