Christmas gifts

A question for moms and dads! Sorry this may be long but- A few weeks back, target had a huge toy sale so using coupons and the sale, I did a majority of my Christmas shopping for my 8 year old son. I scored some pretty great stuff - a science kit, some board games, nerf products, etc. I had them shipped to our house and consolidated the toys into one box in our basement corner. I stupidly folded the top of the box together without retaping box. A day or so later I was doing laundry and my son asked what that was- I told him nothing- just some stuff from when we moved the year before, and to stay out of it. I definitely thought he went along with it. Fast forward to me switching out my laundry a few hours later and the box was opened. He never mentioned it but I knew for a fact he got into it. I asked him and he admitted it. I mentioned they were for my nephews and he knew I was pissed because I called him sneaky. He is a pistol and I know for a fact if I gift them from Santa like planned- he will know. I have a feeling this year, possibly next will be the last year of him believing so I don’t want to ruin that. My nephews are older and would probably not enjoy the stuff I bought my son. Also, he’s at the age where he’s not as into toys anymore so I have no idea what else I would get him. My question is- what do I do? Do I still give him the gifts or return them for new stuff? Should I ask family members to purchase them off of me? Help!(Bigger ticket gifts like gift cards, sneakers he likes, and Nintendo games always comes from myself and dad so that’s not an option for Santa gifts) via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3BOA54n
