Seeking opinion: how to handle a difficult kid who does not like other people?

Have a family friend with a kid who is on the spectrum for autism and has frequent meltdowns in public. The parents are not necessarily strict at all in discipline in the household, and are often letting the kid get away with things - including rewards when rewards are not warranted. So there is nature (personality and condition) and nurture (or the opposite of).So, the kid is going into kindergarten and does not like anyone there, and the mom is considering pulling the kid from school to homeschool the kid. I feel like the minds been made up.Facing this situation, what would you do? Obviously I’m coming from a third party / friend perspective, and I have strong feelings against taking the kid out of the education system that young, since it might be hard to reintegrate.
