My kid is 5 and possibly on the spectrum or adhd - we were in the process of finding out before covid but it's on hold. He's very systematic and particular about things and he needs to know what's going to happen, so if you spring something on him, he will shut down or act out. He's also stubborn af.The other day, he was playing on his phone and arguing with his dad, and things escalated quickly. His dad tried to get him to look at him, which he refused, and so dad touched the kid's arm and kid freaked. He thrashed around even though dad had moved his hand away and ended up kicking dad in the eye. He handled it really poorly, punching and kicking things before going for a walk.I stayed with the kid and decided it was enough phone time, so I took the phone from him because he wouldn't give it up. He was devastated and so mad at me for taking the phone for a long time after.I tried talking to him about what happened, but it seemed like he didn't even notice his dad's outburst. Which is concerning to me. He was right next to it.When I raise my voice at him, he gets visibly scared and says so, and this apathy to such a shocking event is just baffling. Even now, several days later, he hasn't mentioned it at all. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/39mpXmU
