My boys really don't like grandma

Both of my sons, 2y and 8mo, have very strong emotions when my mother shows up. My oldest is practically in tears as soon as he hears her. It doesn't help that, as soon as she enters the house, she shrieks "Where's my babies? Grandma's here!" like she's some kind of banshee. He goes to full blown sobbing when she holds him. He has always reacted this way as long as we can remember. For my youngest, it's a little more subtle, but not by much. He still gets ready to cry when he sees her.I've tried researching, and most resources talk about separation anxiety, but it doesn't really sound like that, since it's been going on for most of my oldest son's life, and doesn't necessarily involve separation. In fact, we've let other relatives hold them with literally no problem. Our theory is that they're just reacting to my mother's intense and overwhelming presence, but we're not sure what to do about it. She gets upset about the fact that they don't like her. She's also constantly nagging us about seeing them, and some have recommended exposure therapy, but time, distance, and pandemic are all factors in that. She's also not exactly pleasant to be around as an adult either.Anyone have any advice for getting your children acclimated to horribly overbearing grandparents? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/33olKOt
