Trying in the /parenting subreddit.....First time reddit post, so apologies if I am failing to do this correctly but I am hopeful there might be some helpful advice/experiences I can gather from you all.My 25 month old son has had prolonged fevers with unknown origin for almost 3 months now. No known pre-existing conditions, COVID negative (PCR and antibodies), and no other obvious symptoms/rashes (that he can communicate or we can visualize at least), eats/sleeps fine, and we believe is maintaining weight. Here are some facts: - He has never ran “hot”, his normal temperature has always been high 98. We know this because he has had multiple ear infections in his life so we are well aware of what’s normal for him and what’s not.The fever has spiked once to 102, but typically it’s averaging 100.5-101 every evening. Historically this would keep him out of daycare- so we are very confident that these are not normal readings for him.We don’t believe it’s teething relatedAt this point he has had 3 separate CBC panels and while some things have come back flagged (I.e. low WBC, but just below the range on 2 of 3) our doctors have not found the tests to be indicative of muchUrine, stool, and COVID all negativeHe did actually fracture his tibia on a slide around the time this started BUT the doctors feel fairly confident it’s not osteomyelitis based on x-rays and lack of symptoms (walking fine, no swelling).I am seeking advice/support because at this point both our Pediatrician (who started all this testing) and Infectious Disease (ID) specialists have thrown their hands up and suggest watchful waiting. ID did say we could follow up with a Rheumatologist and/or Hematologist but it didn’t seem like she thinks that would help.We understand more symptoms need to be present to get much further but the anxiety is building that we are missing something brewing. It’s also frustrating that we can’t seem to have a real conversation with our doctors vs. textbook answers/deferring. There is a ‘spidey’ parenting sense to this that I think most would understand and we just want to make sure we are doing everything we possibly can for him.Any experiences or helpful advice is greatly appreciated.Pease refrain from the “calm down” responses- it’s not helpful and doesn’t make us feel any better unless you have a reason why you think it’s OK to not worry about fevers for 3 months. First time parents here, so naturally we’re anxious.Thank you in advance for any guidance or personal experiences. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2PQQ50h
