Any experiences with teenagers who have more "childlike" interest but were still mature?

My youngest is 15 and has always had more "childlike" interest. He still has some toys like Lego, Hot Wheels, Nerf Guns, and Beyblades that get some use. He isn't super interested in clothes and still has his older brother pick his style and, while he has admitted to having a crush on a girl friend, he says he isn't ready for all that. I'm not pushing him. My middle has a girlfriend but my oldest didn't date in high school and I am alright with that. He's a very smart kid. He is ranked 2nd in his class and hopes to get graduate valedictorian. He plays hockey and tennis. He has 3 close friends and all 3 are kids he has known since elementary school. 2 of them were in his kindergarten class. It doesn't really seem to be affecting his overall maturity so I haven't seen it as something to be worried about. I trusted him more than my 16 year old when we had them stay home for a couple days when we dropped our oldest off at college this year. He stays on top of his school assignments without having to be reminded. I've always been of this mindset that this is just how he is. My husband is a little worried about maturity as he gets older and ready to leave the nest, but I think as long as he's able to handle basic life skills then it shouldn't be a problem. Anyone else have a teenager like this? Did their more "childlike" interest cause any unforseen problems or is my husband overreacting? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/39FaCzO
