Like the title says, this week my four year old started pre-k.Fast forward to tonight, I made the family a nice dinner. My daughter comes up to me afterwards and starts singing the Our Father dinner prayer. It was made to be a kids song version, but all the elements where there. “Thank you father for our food yada yada amen”.After thanking her for singing me a sweet song (she does not understand the religious aspect and just thinks she’s thanking her daddy), I asked her where she learned it. She states that they have her sing it before lunch or snack at her school.I am a firm believer that religion should not be pushed on a child. I believe children should be old enough to fully understand religions before being introduced to them and choose themselves whether they want it to be a part of their life.It really upsets me the school is teaching a prayer and the kids are lapping up the catchy song without understanding what they are saying. It seems my wife thinks I’m overreacting, but I really think I need to say something. I’m not sure what to do here. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/36ieDI1
