My son is a very curious 5 years old. We try to feed his curiosities in every way we can. Recently we've been talking about the different cultures that are within his heritage. Strangely we've never brought up the topic of different races because we want him to see past it.Well the other day while sorting his sister's princesses he noticed that Tiana clearly has a different skin color. When he asked me about it I explained that we're all different and unique because that's what makes us special .But I wonder if by ignoring it that we have done him, and people of color a disservice? With everything that is going on in the world right now I want to make sure we are raising him right. We have spoken about differences in regards to physical disabilities (wheelchairs, walkers, amputees) because he has asked about them. And he's very recently questioned why the homeless person is asking for help. He's so kind & empathetic and wants to help so I know we are doing something right. But I just wanted some suggestions about bringing up race without bringing up race if that makes any sense? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3xEg7bE
