Tonight, my 14 year old son expressed that he was thinking he wants to email his bio dad. His bio dad was an abusive alcoholic that led us to restraining orders and a domestic violence shelter. He hasn’t seen his bio dad since he was 2 and doesn’t remember him. But he had issues from the young contact - a speech disorder and anxiety stemming from ptsd, which he received treatment for. My son is emotionally fragile and has had to be hospitalized twice for depression.I am anxious about him making contact and if I should even allow it or how to allow it in a way that is safe.His bio dad said he wanted to terminate his parental rights nearly 10 years ago and we have just never had the resources to file. My son also said he still wants to terminate the rights and he sees my husband as his only dad (he’s been “dad” for 11 years.What should I do? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2RkBEpb
