I feel like this is an unpopular opinion but I’m growing frustrated within my inner circle of friends and need to vent to strangers. I swear the parents who have kids who are “book worms” are among the most smug type of parents. My tween daughter liked to read up until about third grade and then she lost interest. She only reads if she has to for school. She is an amazing artist, spends a lot of time drawing and doing graphic design. She is kind, smart, outgoing, overall just a great kid. Is it just the moms that I associate with that brag about their kids running out of books to read, or posting “my little book worm!” pics on social media? I also feel like we parents are bombarded with messages about how basically your kid won’t succeed in life if they’re not a reader. I know science and studies support that kids who read are generally more successful students (but I also feel like there’s more of a socioeconomic factor there that comes into play). It’s just something I’ve noticed lately that is getting under my skin. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3hJfBTy
