Son needs general anesthesia for dental work and I am worried

Help! My anxiety is taking over. We saw a pediatric dentist today for my 4 year old. He needs 6 fillings, and one of his cavities is so deep it’s almost touching the nerve, so he’ll need a baby root canal and a silver crown on that tooth. She gave us the option of freezing+nitrous+oral sedation, or general anesthesia. We chose GA (putting him to sleep completely) because this way it can be done all in one visit, instead of multiple visits, and hopefully be less traumatizing to him.I was totally fine with our decision until I made the mistake of reading Reddit posts from other parents whose kids had cavities and saw a comment from someone saying, “I’ve heard way too many horror stories from kids dying from anesthetic to ever do that”. Cue me going down a rabbit hole googling stories of kids dying at the dentist offices and while it’s incredibly rare, it has happened. So it makes me wonder if we make the wrong decision. The dentist is reputable, they are qualified pediatric dentists, and they will have an anesthesiologist there doing that part of it. But still, I worry.Has anyone gone through this with little kids, what was your experience like? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3BbHMSS
