Help with my toddler

Hello everyone! I have a 2.5 year old girl and just gave birth about 2 weeks ago. I also have 3 stepdaughters who are here every other weekend.I know tantrums and difficult behavior comes with the territory of having a toddler. For the most part my daughter listens and is well-behaved, but I’m finding myself getting very short with her when she doesn’t. She’s adjusting better than I thought she would to her baby brother, and I also try to be mindful of when the older girls are here that her regular routine is being interrupted. I’m aware my body and hormones are still out of wack right now and will take some time for me to get back to normal so that is playing a role in my reactions as well.I’m usually a very patient person, but I don’t like when I lose my patience with her. I always apologize to her if I feel like I could have handled a situation better and I try very hard to remind myself that she’s only 2 and there’s a lot going on in her little world right now. I feel really guilty if I lose my temper and we both end up yelling or there’s tears. I do try to take the time to calmly talk to her about whatever the situation was and try to help her understand why she can’t do a certain thing, but if that’s coming after an escalation I think it’s hard for her to absorb whatever I’m saying.Does anyone have any advice on how to handle the more difficult moments in a productive/constructive way and/or tips on maintaining my patience when she’s acting out? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/37NOXTL
