Apparently I'm that selfish mom.

Tldr: called selfish for thinking my kid should keep their own school supplies.I recently got in an argument with someone about a school supplies situation. As most of us know, you get a list of stuff they suggest you buy your kid and usually your kid keeps that to themselves and you refill as needed which is how it's been this year due to covid. In previous years theyd take all the kids supplies and throw it all into a classroom bin to be shared with the class. Which in writing sounds great if you cant afford supplies for you kid, but unfortunately it was like 10 parents out of 25 kids that actually brought supplies the previous years because of the "other people will buy it so why should i" mindset. We also live in a nicer area so most people in this district can afford a $1 box of crayons at least..The teachers would also send out letters to everyone asking for more supplies. I had no issue contributing but some items were a bit wild like cleaning supplies youd think the school would have handy (sanitizer, lysol, boxes of masks, ect)All this being said, apparently I'm selfish for not buying cleaning products and thinking my kids should get to keep their supplies i bought them. I give my kids their own personal sanitizer bottle, packs of tissues, ect... people are wild.. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3ELK2l0
