AFM, know the signs: muscle weakness a week after fever/respiratory symptoms

Parents, I need you to read this and spread the word. There is a disease called Acute Flaccid Myelitis, AFM, similar to polio, that is slowly spreading in the US. It primarily affects children (average age is 5). It is important to catch it early to prevent long term consequences which may include paralysis and death.Be on the look out for any report from children of feeling weak in a leg or arm, ESPECIALLY WITHIN A WEEK OF FEVER AND/OR RESPIRATORY SYMPTOMS. Do not decide to "wait a day or so" to see if it resolves. Seek treatment immediately.https://ift.tt/30sPpEn via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/3fB8TuT
